Hazel Green, Wisconsin

"The Point of Beginning"

In 1831 Lucius Lyon began surveying just south of the present-day Hazel Green in southwestern Wisconsin. This is the place where all land that was to become Wisconsin would be measured.

Today, every property deed in Wisconsin includes a description which is based on the Point of Beginning (POB).

The first permanent settlement in Wisconsin was in Hazel Green in 1825. This makes Hazel Green an ideal location for history enthusiasts and antique shoppers. The village has several Bed and Breakfasts and antique shops to offer.

The Mississippi River, 9 miles west, provides excellent hunting and fishing. Golf courses and parks are nearby.

The village has over 400 acreas to be developed for industrial or residential uses. The village itself has recently purchased 25 acres for industrial development.
