Boating and Tubing

Four rivers provide ample opportunities for boating, canoeing and tubing in Grant County, the Platte River, Grant River, Wisconsin River and Mississippi River. Whether you prefer the speed of the motorboat or the calmness of a slow paddle, you'll find charming scenery from the river bluffs and sandy islands to farm pastures and wild prairies. Take in the natural beauty, and watch for wildlife along the way.

Please note that the water levels change often; for condition reports, contact any of the rental companies listed below.

River Float (Tubing)

The 44-mile long Grant River in Southwest Wisconsin is an excellent floating location with the scenic river bluffs, wildlife, farm fields and Driftless topography.

Grant County offers two tubing rental companies along the Grant River that also offer shuttle options for those with their own equipment.

Powerboat

The Mighty Mississippi is easier to traverse in a vessel with an engine, whether it is a fishing boat, speedboat, pontoon, or jet skis. The river can be a lot of fun, speeding past the barges and chugging along the byway. Stop at an island for a private picnic area and watch for eagle nests along the way. Motorboats are also useful for traversing the Wisconsin River with its many sandbars.
